Data analysis of the Multi-sectorial Questionnaire and the IPA mechanism- Burkina Faso

The MQ was piloted between October and November 2021 in Burkina Faso in the Sahel region, in the communities of the communes of Gorom-Gorom, Déou and Markoye, located in the province of Oudalan. The pilot survey targeted 6 communities including one in Déou (Déou-Nord), one in Markoye (Markoye-Est), four in Gorom-Gorom (Gorom-Centre-Nord, Gorom-Centre-Est, Gorom-Centre-Est and Kelguef), through two population groups: host communities and IDPs.

The MQ has been implemented in both rural and urban settings. The WeWorld-GVC field team carried out participant research, interviews and all fieldwork. All field staff were local and part of the communities themselves, to ensure that the tools and use of language were appropriate to the context of the communities, and to minimize the risk of causing harm to the affected population. The Multi-sectoral Questionnaire was carried out in French; but in the field, the collection was done in the local language, mainly Fulfuldé and Sonraï.

The Multi-sector Questionnaire aims to obtain a representation of ”primary groups”, i.e. specific groups that interact differently with members of the community compared to the rest of the population and can bring important information related to the protective status. The representation matrix makes it possible to identify and select the profiles of the key informants to participate in the different groups of interviews.
