From April 2nd to 5th, in WeWorld GVC headquarter in Milan (It), a Training of Trainers on the Community Protection Approach has taken place. More than 40 trainers, convening as local trainers and multipliers, are already working on the CPA in different countries: the occupied Palestinian territory, Tunisia, Lybia, Lebanon, Guatemala, and Italy.

The 4 days ToT is an activity of the project “EU Aid Volunteers, getting involved in promoting a community-based protection approach to build resilience and LRRD”.

The training has been designed on a need-assessment carried out to identify the learning needs with specific attention to protection, community-based approaches, gender, and LRRD. The need assessment methodology has included so far study missions in Lebanon, Tunisia, and the occupied Palestinian territory, along with a survey to local and international actors working in the MENA and Latin America and Caribbean regions.

The ToT was divided into two parallel sessions to tailor the learning experience to the needs of the participants:

  • 2nd and 3rd of April – STRATEGIC TOT
The ToT is designed for key staff in charge of strategy and management

Trainer: Francesco Michele. Humanitarian and Protection Specialist.

  • 2nd to 5th of April – TECHNICAL TOT.
The ToT delves into the details of the CPA. It is designed for staff who will be supporting in CPA training in missions

Trainers: Ayah Bseisy. CPA Specialist // Julian Ibarguen. Data Analyst Specialist // Dominique Sbardella. Protection Specialist.

Both pieces of training aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how Integrated Protection can be instrumental to deliver comprehensive humanitarian and development programs. In particular, they focused on the Community Protection Approach and the necessary elements of comprehension to transfer knowledge within different contexts.
